Andris Bakuzis

UFG – Universidade Federal de Goiás

Andris Bakuzis received his PhD in Physics from the University of Brasília in 2000. He trained as a postdoctoral fellow at University of Central Florida until 2002. In 2004 he obtained a permanent position at the Institute of Physics of Federal University of Goiás (UFG). He is currently a full professor at UFG, and the coordinator of the Center of Integrative Research on Nanomedicine (CNanoMed) of UFG. He leads a multidisciplinary group that has the mission to develop thermal-based nanotechnology strategies for disease theranostics. The group focuses on topics related to heat generation, heat transport and thermal dose monitoring. Strategies involve the development of biomimetic nanocarriers containing organic or inorganic nanoparticles, as well as non-invasive thermometry methods to monitor heat delivery and promote heat-induced immunotherapy.
